COMBUSTIBLE METAL DUST CLEANING

Combustible Dust Hazard Analysis & Prevention Audits:

◆ Dust, ignition, dispersal, and confinement controls

◆ Dust management and controls

◆ Friction, electrical, open flame, static ignition controls

◆ Fire suppression and prevention systems

Remtech's Specialized Combustible Dust Cleaning Equipment includes:

◆ High lift and elevated scaffolding with fall protection

Combustible dusts that provide fuel for fires or explosions are frequently organic or metal dusts that are finely ground into very small particles, fibers, fines, chips, chunks, flakes, or a small mixtures. Types of dusts include, metal dust, such as aluminum and magnesium; wood dust; plastic dust; biosolids; organic dust, such as sugar, paper, soap, and dried blood; and dusts from certain textiles.

Five Conditions are Required for a Dust Explosion:

◆ combustible dust fuel present

◆ dust suspended/dispersed in air at high concentrations

◆ oxidant is present

◆ ignition source is present

◆ area is confined or enclosed in a building

Sources of Dust Ignition Include:

◆ electrostatic discharge

◆ friction

◆ electrical arcing

◆ hot surfaces or open flames from welding

◆ fire

◆ auto ignition
