Bench-scale tests using large reactors were run on runoff water from a chemical plant fire by Remtech with samples tested by an independant testing lab.  Untreated total PFAS elevated concentrations of 2.55 mg/l (2,550,000 ppt) resulted in the following removal efficiencies for the seven (7) EPA proposed PFAS regulated analytes (listed in RED) were BDL. Lab sensitivities were reported in ng/l.

Most wastewater concentrations are currently in the range of 100 ppt, landfill leachates 4,000 ppt, and drinking water in range of 20 ppt or less.  These tests were used to design Remtech's mobile PFAS treatment system to treat water, wastewater, groundwater, landfill leachates, and drinking water below proposed EPA limits.  Remech's design criteria for treatment of PFAS concentrations over 1,000 times what is typically present in environmental waste streams ensures PFAS removal efficiencies below EPA proposed regulatory limits.

The pilot treatment train consisted of wastewater equalization, clarification, aeration with carbon off gas treatment, sand filtration, and three (3) granular activated carbon filters with PFAS specific coal based GAC at several flow rates. Aeration removal efficiencies of volatile PFAS by was 28.65%.

REMTECH PFAS MOBILE TREATMENT SYSTEM

Remtech's mobile treatment system can treat liquid waste streams at pumping rates up to 100 gpm.  Larger fixed facility design parameters can be determined following bench-scale treatability tests to confirm activated carbon or other media mass, flowrates/sf, the number and size of GAC/media columns, media contact times, and media recharge/disposal rates.

Typical treatment train configurations may include solids clarification with coagulant polymer additives, flow and concentration equalization with Remtech's FRACAIR magnetic aeration system, multi-media filtration, media backwash clarification, and optional holding tanks to verify FPAS effluent concentrations.

Treatment systems are designed to treat water, wastewater, landfill leachates, drinking water and other liquid matrices.  To learn more about Remtech's treatability, design/build, or PFAS mobile treatment program fill out the eform below.

Remtech PFAS Mobile Treatment System

Correlation curves were prepared with a field COD meter, compaired to actual Lab COD & PFAS values to predict PFAS concentrations in the field.

When COD values are less than 10 mg/l after carbon filtration, PFAS concentrations are typically less than 100 ppt.  Field COD meter readings have the potential to reduce expensive PFAS laboratory tests. Correlation curves need to prepared for each specific waste stream.
