Project Description:
Remtech designed and installed an enzyme enhanced insitu native microbial bioremediation system to cleanup a leaking underground storage tank site. The aerial solution phase petroleum hydrocarbon "footprint" of this site is approximately 0.5 acres.
Seven (7) existing recovery wells were converted into enzyme injection/biosparge wells. Remtechs HC-2000 was employed over a six (6) month period to treat total petroleum hydrocarbons and BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene) from a gasoline release.
HC-2000 is a propriety formulation of enzymes, micro-nutrients, and biodegradable wetting agents which catalyze or speed up the petroleum hydrocarbon bioremediation processes in soil, groundwater, and railroad ballast. HC-2000 works in three (3) ways (1) direct enzyme breakdown of contaminates, (2) acceleration of native microbial waste digestion, and (3) desorption of contaminants from soil.
Groundwater BTEX concentrations were reduced by over 94% in the heart of the groundwater plume during a six (6) month treatment period. TPH groundwater concentrations were reduced by over 96% during the same period.
